The Montessori classrooms are multi-aged learning environments based on Maria Montessori’s studies and theory of human development. 

 

The benefits are numerous and children enjoy an enriched educational experience in these combined age classrooms.  Older children act as role models for the younger ones, having the opportunity to instruct their younger peers whilst also reviewing concepts continually.  It is also a very natural way to socially interact with a wider age group.

Our Cycle 1 Program runs for 3 years including Prep, for children aged 3-6 years old. Upon completion, they are eligible to continue with Cycle 2 at Mitcham Primary School - Montessori Stream or another Montessori Cycle 2 of your choosing.

Our Centre runs one class which can accommodate up to 28 children. We have an educator to child ratio of 1:11. Each session has a Montessori qualified Directress, an Early Childhood teacher as well as an additional Educator where needed.
